Orlando Goes Anti America With Latest Statement About Fireworks On Independence Day

ORLANDO, FL – The city of Orlando issued an apology after sending out an email that promoted an upcoming 4th of July fireworks display in a rather unpatriotic fashion, claiming in the original email that many people may not “want to celebrate our nation right now,” due to divisive issues cropping up as of late.

On July 1st, the city of Orlando issued an email newsletter promoting the Fireworks at the Fountain event being held at Lake Eola Park on July 4th in downtown Orlando – but the tone of the newsletter certainly didn’t convey anything to celebrate over.

“A lot of people probably don’t want to celebrate our nation right now, and we can’t blame them. When there is so much division, hate and unrest, why on earth would you want to have a party celebrating any of it?”

The bizarre tone of the newsletter didn’t end there, with the promotion continuing with, “But in all seriousness, you know in your heart, Fourth of July fireworks are amazing, especially when you are standing in 90° heat, 100% humidity, next to 100,000 of your closest friends. In that moment, something takes over, and we all become united in an inexplicable bond. Yes, America is in strife right now, but you know what…we already bought the fireworks.”

Needless to say, the message sent out by the City of Orlando wasn’t particularly well received. Among those critical of the original messaging was Orlando’s Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 25, who issued a response on Twitter reading, “We do not share the same views as the City of Orlando and find their comments in inflammatory and in poor taste.”

Criticism was coming from a myriad of directions, most of which signaled the same sentiment of the promotion of the 4th of July event being in poor taste.

The city of Orlando heard the message loud and clear, issuing an apology one day after the unusual means of promoting the 4th of July fireworks display.

“The City of Orlando sincerely regrets the negative impact our words have had on some in our community. We understand these words offended some of our residents, which was not our intent. We value the freedoms we have in this country and are thankful to the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for those. We take pride in celebrating the 4th of July to express our gratitude to those men and women and honor the country we live in.”

The local Fox 35 station reached out to the city of Orlando for comment on the matter. However, no city officials have responded. It’s unclear if the individual responsible for crafting the original offending messaging has been at all reprimanded over the incident.
