Middle Schools Students In New York Being Groomed, Given Quiz On Sexuality & Gender Identity

AVERILL PARK, NY – Parents are reportedly outraged after having learned middle school students in the Averill Park Central School District have been subjected to school assignments laden with topics and questions about sexuality and gender identity.

The issue regarding materials and curriculum rife with the subject matter, and at times including visual depictions, on sexuality and gender identity making its way into public schools is something that has been occurring across the country.

The sexuality and gender identity debacle has become so prevalent in public schools that it eventually led to Florida enacting a piece of legislation that removed such content and subject matter from primary-level grades.

With states like New York already having an ongoing practice of inviting drag queens into the classrooms (using taxpayer dollars to do so), it comes as no surprise that questionable materials found being taught in the Averill Park Central School District have surfaced.

Amanda Farinelli, a local parent out of said school district, recently spoke out about an “activity” taking place that was administered to 7th graders in a “Family and Consumer Sciences” class, where students were quizzed about various sexual orientations and gender identities.

“These are 12, 13-year-olds that are being asked who they’re attracted to sexually. And what their pronouns are – it’s stunning to me.”

The children were administered a quiz where questions asking the likes of what the definition of “pansexuals” is, what pronouns a “non-binary” person would use, what is an “asexual” person attracted to.

Needless to say, some parents weren’t thrilled about these materials, with Farinelli saying, “We shared it on Facebook, a lot of parents in Averill Park got involved and are very, very upset that our kids were exposed and asked these questions.”

Farinelli doesn’t take issue with the idea of kids learning to be more inclusive or understanding but feels as though these particular topics regarding sexuality and gender identity are best left to be discussed in a child’s home rather than at school.

During an Averill Park Central School District board meeting on June 13th, one parent brought up these sorts of lesson plans, noting how she was completely oblivious to them until her child brought them to her attention, telling the board, “As parents and guardians, we want full transparency on what our children are learning, told, shown and exposed to while at school…Again, I will ask why are we pushing so hard in this district to desensitize our children to sex?”

School board member Douglas Kelley responded to these voiced concerns from the parent during the meeting, telling the mother, “That’s not something you’d necessarily see in a curriculum, by the way. Those are materials that are produced by a teacher to implement in curriculum. So, I’d like to see the context in which that was presented.”

In response to the outrage over the sexuality and gender identity assignment, the Averill Park Central School District issued a statement claiming that it wasn’t a “survey or quiz” and that it was administered in response to “student interest” as well as a means to celebrate “Pride month.”

“The activity in question was not a survey or a quiz. It was an impromptu activity that was done in response to student interest. The activity was in recognition of Pride month, which is June. The activity was publicly available from a software company, which is used in middle and high schools throughout the country.”
